Program Description
Event Details
Come and learn about wild birds in the Berkshires, and the fieldwork being done to study and protect them! Berkshire Bird Observatory's Executive Director, Ben Nickley, will discuss and share slides about BBO's first four years of conservation science in the Berkshires. As a small organization with a local focus, BBO is having a big impact in the Berkshires while contributing data to large-scale conservation efforts through their partnerships. In tandem with their scientific work, BBO is building community and connecting people to nature through up-close experiences with wild birds. Their projects include songbird migration research, saw-whet owl monitoring, bird banding and the "Kestrel Nest Box Project."
Ben Nickley is a scientist with a passion for birds and the ecosystems they are an integral part of. Helping others connect with the natural world through birds is his forte and his mission.
This event is one of numerous Flight Path programs, an initiative the library is participating in through the Spring. Be on the look out for more programs about birding, bird conservation and migration, and bird-related films and craft workshops!
