Event Details

Native of Williamstown, Cathy Wolf, will visit the Milne to talk about her new book.  The Drum Tree is an eco-fantasy novel that explores the mystical power of nature and people’s symbiotic connection to it.  With the world on the verge of industrial emergence, the villagers of Deep Knoll must reconcile their fears of the nearby forest when a young boy vanishes. Beckoned by a mysterious drum, sixteen-year-old Delan embarks upon a journey into the woods. Once Delan’s friend Hali, and his rival, Jase, follow him into the unknown wilds, their quest begins. The Drum Tree is the first in a series.

Catherine V. Wolf is an avid environmentalist, lifelong learner, and educator. Growing up near the rolling hills and wooded trails of Western Massachusetts inspired a deep affinity with the living world. As a teacher, Wolf shared her passion for nature by exploring conservation lands with students. She developed curriculum that centered on studying animals and their habitats, EartCathyh’s natural processes, as well as humans’ evolving relationship with the planet. Wolf ’s Master of Science degree in environmental teaching from Antioch University New England, as well as her undergraduate theater degree from Smith College, equipped her to write The Drum Tree, which emphasizes our connection to the natural world and to each other. Now retired from teaching, Wolf volunteers for environmental groups in Logan, Utah, where she resides.
