Program Description

Event Details

POSTPONED!  Rescheduled for February 11th.

Melanie Mowinski, artist and MCLA art professor, will lead a creative workshop for us again!  She will challenge your idea of a what a book is or could be.  You will get to be silly and spontaneous, and see what kind of "book" you come up with!

We ask that registrants bring in three items for re-use to donate, like things that function as "pages," something to make a binding, and any materials that could become a book cover.  These items should be items you already have or things destined for the trash or recycling bins. Please do not purchase anything!  For example

  • For a cover: A skinny drawer from a discarded sewing machine.
  • For pages:  6-8 of the same kind of discarded envelope or a bunch of discarded CDs.
  • For a binding: Wayward cords of connection, such as old power cables!

A 'silent auction' will be held when everyone arrives: each person will choose three items from the collection we amassed to use in your project, so you won't necessarily be using the items that you bring in.

Please register as space is limited!
