Program Description

Event Details

In this workshop, led by art educators Pamela Quirinale and David Boag, we will be focusing on colorful Abstract Art, and a few of the works of famous local artist Suzy Frelinghuysen. These include collage paintings and paintings of geometric shapes and spaces. We will also look at a painting by George L.K. Morris, Suzy's husband, which includes numbers and other math symbols.

Children will become "Art Detectives" as they search for particular shapes, colors, and writing. They will next create their own collage with shapes, enhanced with colored pencils and markers.

This project has been funded in part by a grant from the Dorothy C. Radgowski Learning Through Women’s Achievement in the Arts Grant Program, provided through the Where Women Made History and the Historic Artists' Homes and Studios programs of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
